Report: Holy Cross School Could Merge With OMC

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has said it will close schools throughout the region.

A report on Philly.com indicates the Archidocese of Philadelphia has recommended that Mt. Airy's Holy Cross School be merged with Our Mother of Consolation in Chestnut Hill.

The school, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, would move to the OMC site on East Chestnut Hill Avenue, according to the report.

Overall, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will recommend closing or merging 44 Catholic elementary schools and five high schools, the report said.

The full report of finding from the Archdiocese Blue Ribbon Commission will be announced at a press conference at 4 p.m. Friday.

Holy Cross was on a list of Archdiocese schools in the region with low enrollment, according to a MyFoxPhilly list. The list said it had 175 students.
